Crucible of Beauty
Every ten years or so, we come across a deer skull in the woods. We handle them gingerly and bleach them carefully: a sort of memento mori. This one rested atop an old TV monitor playing a flickering campfire loop. First exhibited in the 2017 Grey Highlands Artists Collective Sacred Spaces group show in Thornbury, Ontario. Bone and metal, fire and light, in an unending dance.
